Happy New Year, friends!! Can you believe 2015 is almost over ALREADY? Actually, I can. 2015 felt like a really long year for me.
In a good way. I did lots of fun things this year.
For one thing, in 2015 I started up this blog. Crazy to think I’ve only been food blogging for a few months.
Speaking of which, I have another delicious recipe for you all. It’s a spin on your typical hot cocoa.
So I’m obsessed with chai. And I just love chocolate. So why not combine the two in a glorious cozy drink also known as a chai spice hot cocoa. Ohhhh yumminess.
You just let the chai steep and then heat up the ingredients in a small pot, annnd you’re done. Wow. So easy.
It’s low in sugar and contains healthy fats from the coconut whipped cream.
How can you go wrong with chai and chocolate? You can’t. It’s bound to be amazing!
Oh, and here's me looking all moody and stuff while staring intently at my cocoa. This was totally candid. I'm never this serious in posed photos.
So let's make some cocoa, shall we?
Chai Spice Hot Cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 2 chai tea bags
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 2 T maple syrup
- 1 cup milk
- splash of vanilla
- optional: coconut whipped cream (recipe here)
- also optional: cinnamon, for sprinkling
Heat the water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the chai tea bags and let it come to a boil. Turn the heat down and add the cocoa and maple syrup. Whisk well to combine. Add milk and vanilla. Allow to heat slowly until it’s reached desired temperature. Pour into mugs and top with coconut whipped cream and cinnamon.
