Can we all just take a moment right now and appreciate the gloriousness of chai tea? I mean, last fall, I'm pretty sure I didn't even drink water--just chai tea and chai lattes allllll the way. So cozy :)
So now that it's summer, the only logical thing for one to do is to take your favorite drink and pour it over ice. Yes please and thank you.
This recipe is something I created to help keep me from craving a trip to a coffee shop every day. I literally would do that if it weren't for the whole not-being-a-billionaire thing. Bummer.
Yeah, I mean you just like mix this stuff together and add milk. If that's not simple then...you need help.
As much as I love sugar and sweet things, I really hate to think of how much sugar is put in your iced drinks at coffee shops. It's insane. By using a more natural sweetener (maple syrup) and using less of it, you're avoiding the risk of diabetes. Yay!
Yeahhhh it's good. Just try it.
Iced Chai Latte
- 1 chai teabag (I used Bigelow's spiced chai--sooo good!)
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp maple syrup or agave
- a handful of ice
- 1/2 cup almond milk
Let teabag steep in hot water for 5-10 minutes. Remove teabag, making sure you squeeze out all the water to get all the flavor.
Mix in vanilla and maple syrup. Pour tea over ice. Finally, pour in almond milk and stir to combine.
